[Taunting of metrocrats]
The bleating from the St. Paul DFL sheep is being heard across the river:
(excerpt; emphasis mine)
Kelly has clearly declared his political affiliations through his actions. The policies of the presidential candidate whom he supported are antithetical to what the DFL stands for. Let him sit around the campfire at the Republican tent; he has earned a seat there. But do not try to portray the electorate's abject rejection of Kelly in the primary as evidence of some sort of anger or intolerance on the part of Democrats.
I think the real question is why Kelly and his minions are trying so hard to portray the mayor as something he clearly is not.
Thomas S. Montgomery, St. Paul.
Yeah, but is he a good mayor? One of the reasons Kelly endorsed Bush, was that Bush's policies were "better for St. Paul."
But sheep are dumb animals. To them "mayor of St. Paul" means "mayor of the DFL."
Mayor Randy Kelly said that he made his decision to back President Bush in the 2004 election "on principle."
I think the results of the recent primary demonstrate that St. Paul voters are doing exactly the same thing, and will, I hope, do so again this November.
Glenn Karwoski, St. Paul.
And the principle that the Sheep based their vote on was "who's the better DFL bobo?" Not: is Kelly a good mayor?"
I said they were stupid.
Finally, this bleat:
In Mayor Randy Kelly's scolding statement to St. Paul voters on Thursday, he was asked if he would endorse a DFL candidate for governor. He responded that he would have to know who it was before answering the question. Yet his latest glossy piece of literature features a prominent picture of Tim Pawlenty.
St. Paul is fed up with the contradictions and doubletalk of this mayor, and he only added fuel to the fire in his latest "announcement." The people of St. Paul do not believe Randy Kelly.
Dan Duddingston, St. Paul.
OH MY GOODNESS! A BIG CITY MAYOR SUCKING UP TO HIS STATE"S GOVERNOR - WHO JUST MIGHT, BY THE WAY - HAVE THE POWER TO SHOWER SAID MAYOR'S CITY WITH CASH! HOW DESPICABLE!
Yes, douchebag. But how good of a mayor is he?
Oh, and I recall you sheep really didn't see any credibility problems with a certain high office-holder who committed the crimes of PERJURY, SUBBORNATION OF PERJURY AND OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE.
To summarize how the sheep "brain" works:
"It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is" = No credibility problems
"I endorse George Bush for the presidency of the United States" = BAAAAAAA! BAAAAA! DECEIVER!
The difference between Kelly and the Sheep - and the thing that makes him superior to them - is that Kelly does what he thinks is best for St. Paul, while the sheep want what's best for the DFL.
Don't believe me?
Do you sheep really think it was in Kelly's own political best interest to endorse the presidential candidate as mayor of a city he knew would vote 70-30 against that candidate?
If you answered "yes" to that question, it is a good measure of the intelligence of the Sheep brain.
You sheep shouldn't fret too much though, even if Kelly wins reelection. You sheep have a Fellow Traveler running that city just across the river. He's doing so well that people are starting to resurrect a nickname for that city that hasn't been uttered in over 10 years:
The crime rate there is getting baaaaaaad. But it's all good, since the town's being run by a true-blue Democrat who endorsed John Kerry. Who cares if a few Minneapolitans get dusted off in drive-bys? Ryback endorsed the right guy!
