Former LA Times columnist Robert Scheer
Barbra Streisand is an insipid, narcissistic fool.
Dear Mr. Martinez [an editor for the LA Times -ed.],
This letter is to inform you that I am canceling my subscription to the LA Times, and here is the reason why:
The greater Southern California community is one that not only proudly embraces its diversity but demands it. Your publisher's decision to fire Robert Scheer is a great disservice to the spirit of our community.
Hello? This is Southern California here. We DEMAND more diversity! Send more Latinos PRONTO!
Honestly, that "we demand diversity" line is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever read. "Diversity" is a buzzword that has been stripped of any meaning, that Babs now deploys in search of a context that doesn't exist, except for in the minds of cloistered super-rich liberals who can't see beyond their enormous front lawns.
I'm almost embarrassed for you in seeing the LA Times being referred to as the "Chicago LA Times" on the myriad of internet sites I've visited in the last few days. It seems, however, an aptly designated epithet, representing the feeling among many of your readers that your new leadership, especially that of Jeff Johnson, is entirely out of touch with them and their desire to be exposed to views that stretch them beyond their own paradigms. So although the number of contributors to your op-ed pages may have increased, in firing Robert Sheer and putting Jonah Goldberg in his place, the gamut of voices has undeniably been diluted, and I suspect this may ultimately decrease the number of readers of those same pages.
This is just precious. An effete Hollywood liberal, awash in a sea of the bluest of blue voters is castigating the Times for firing an effete Los Angeles liberal (an an incredibly bad writer to boot) because the now Scheerless editorial page will henceforth be failing to expose its (heavily liberal) readers to views that "stretch them beyond their paradigms"? Is she kidding?
Memo to Babs: your views are a carbon copy of Scheer's. Reading Jonah Goldberg WOULD expose you to "other views". Robert Scheer did no "paradigm shifting" in your tiny little brain (and that of moonbats like you) since he always wrote the EXACT SAME things you were "thinking".
Which can be summed up as follows:
We're worse than Saddam.
Bush lied (lies).
Cheney lied (lies).
Guns are bad, and their manufacturers are worse.
Bush is a vacuous liar.
Bush is an incompetent, as well as a liar.
Wow! How original. Never heard anything like THAT before. Is this crap really "stretching your paradigm," Babs?
Jonah Goldberg might. Plus he's funny.
And, unlike Scheer who needs to consult MoveOn.org before pooping out his weekly drivel, Goldberg is able to formulate a coherent thought on his own from time to time.
